Captivated by the Airbnb movement, The New York Times takes a look at alternative brands that put a twist on home-sharing.

Whether it’s the creation of the “hometel” or hosting meetups for like-minded travelers, home-sharing is getting creative. GuestToGuest, which just acquired, now allows members to acquire points that they can cash in to eliminate the “swapping” of homes during a trip, which comes at little to no cost to travelers.
